"Inspired Embellishing - Textile Art with an Embellishing Machine"

Marta Moutka is a Czech Canadian artist with an extensive background in graphic design which brings a strong sense of composition to her art.  Marta creates textile collages using differnt types of silk as a primary material.  The main element of her work is needle-felted silk.  This technique brings soft textures into her artwork and creates different values of shades and transitions between colour.  She also applies small pieces and thin strips of cut silk, embroidery and Faux Chenille to emphasize details of her collages.

"Sources of Inspiration with Tracey Lawko"

In this 60 minute slide presentation, Tracey Lawko reveals how her fibre art has developed – inspired by childhood interests and continual experimentation. An award-winning fibre artist, embroiderer, quilter, and longarmer, her work has been juried into numerous national and international shows. She creates unique three-dimensional “stumpwork” plant portraits using the modern technology of a longarm sewing machine combined with traditional hand embroidery. Her densely stitched landscapes celebrate the beauty of rural Ontario. As Tracey presents her journey, she invites you to consider your own Sources of Inspiration. Tracey will bring samples of her work and is happy to answer questions.

"Creativity and Aging:  The Time of Your Life"

Our speaker will be Victoria Cowan.  There is a parallel between life stages and creative stages.  We progress from childhood through youth, adulthood and maturity every time we start a new piece of work.  With a focus on creativity in later life, this talk will look at the twists and turns of designing and making an artist's book based on a poem that explores the sense of belonging to many generations of women.
